Welcome to the wonderful fall weekend go-kon dating event! Though typically karaoke is a rather intimate affair, Oshitari rented out a larger room to accommodate the crowd. There’s an open bar area with snacks and soft drinks; a few high tops surround it, dotting the way toward some of the comfier couches that frame the small stage. Around the stage the room is dimly lit, illuminated mostly by a few low lamps and flittering disco lights. The snacks, however, are perfectly illuminated.

Whether or not you put yourself on Oshitari's list, you can show up. Either you're someones plus one or you PM'd Oshitari last minute.

(ooc: (1) While there will be NPC characters there, keep in mind that they're all friends of friends. As such, they're all perfectly nice people who would not take advantage of anyone. Use them as you see fit.
(2) While I know there are large drinks being offered for free, please do not get your character dangerously drunk. Intoxicated and a little sloppy is fine, but please no hospitalization/extreme illness. Keep it fun!)

Momoi joined him in drinking the fruit and alcohol mixed beverage. There was a bit of a strong kick she sensed but the sweetness masked it a little too well. She would definitely be downing more of it as the night went on if her partners came and went.

"Hm... okay then. Over there planning their duet are two very close friends of mine. In fact the one with blue hair is my best friend, Kuroko Tetsuya. And the one with glasses is Midorima Shintaro. We've known each other since junior high school." she giggled lightly as she pointed to them. She was quite excited to hear the two of them sing together after all. "Have you and Yuushi-kun known each other long?"

"Ah, yes." He nodded as she named the two young men. "I believe I remember you mentioning Kuroko-kun once or twice." He teased lightly, remembering a time when nearly every second word out of her mouth had been related to said young man in one way or another.

"Yuushi?" He smiles wryly at the question, remembering that summer day so long ago. "I met him the first year of junior high. He was the first decent opponent I played at Hyoutei."

"Oh you~" she laughed and playfully pushed at his shoulder as she took another drink. She was feeling much better the more she had though she needed to keep it together so she could mingle with more people. It had taken the edge off at least since her eyes did gravitate to Sanada more than she had planned. It was hard not to when he was quite the giant next to some people there and they were all in the same big room.

"Yuushi-kun is quite the charmer. I'd love to meet the rest of your old teammates sometime too they all sounded so interesting." Just as she had gone on about Kuroko and the Generation of Miracles, Atobe had told her a bit of his time too. "Are you ready to play for Hosei? Our teams might not be the top but as individual players go we have some big stars. Though I imagine you plan to be the biggest, Atobe-kun."

"Of course." His lips curved into a confident smirk around the pink straw. "What would be the point otherwise." Which wasn't entirely true - he had rediscovered the hard way that simply playing for the sake of it was just as satisfying as walking away from the court as winner - something he had never quite found the words to thank Tezuka for - but talking like that was for losers and if Atobe was one thing it was certainly NOT a loser. "And what do you think of the chance of the basketball team?"

"Well it's a whole different level now. Though I'd like I say the same I am only a manager." The time for miracles was definitely over for her she knew. But that didn't mean she wasn't going to do her best to try to spark it in her players. "There's a few boys I've got my eyes on to push for greatness even if the team can't keep up." Momoi smiled, sipping at the drink again happily.

"You will have to point them out to me." He abandoned his straw and leaned back, letting his gaze drift around the room seemingly aimlessly. "Or is there anyone in that particular group here?"

She shook her head as she glanced up again just to be sure. "None of my team is here... at least they shouldn't be. Not with the training menu I gave them. They should be resting up now for the big game." Momoi ran a tight ship when it was crunch time for tournaments.

He nodded, smiling faintly at the steel that had entered her voice - reminded again of why he had decided to accept the friendship of the girl beside him. She understood the need to prioritise, that when you wanted to win you had to put everything else second. Yes, they had run a tight ship at Hyotei but they had all shared one goal, to improve, to the best they could be, not only for themselves but also for their friends, family and the entirety of the school. It had been intoxicating and even though the price they paid seemed too much at times or the victory slipped through their fingers it was the happiest time in his life. Momoi, he was sure, understood that push, that drive. One day he could imagine her as the Sakaki of the basketball world.

Letting his gaze drift over the crowd again he smiled. "Indeed. So is there anybody here who catches your interest in a purely -private - facility then?" He teased, wondering if having a little sister might feel something like this, a little ball of warm contentment nestling in his chest at her smile.

Momoi blinked and looked over to Atobe a bit surprised by the question for a moment. Considering the type of event though she wasn't too surprised and she hadn't exactly told him the real reason she had asked him to accompany her. Even she wasn't sure what she was trying to do completely by the action.

"Hm... well... there was someone who was interesting for a while. But things went a bit strangely before I even realized it. I was only flirting and I thought the same signals were coming back but..." she trailed off and her eyes clearly wandered over to the giant that was Sanada heading over to the drinking game. She grimaced a bit at that, as she had hoped to try to approach him again without alcohol involved. Instead she turned her attention back to her own drink.

For somebody as versed in reading bodylanguage it was easy for Atobe to catch on to who it was Momoi was talking about and as his eyes cut over to the imposing figure of his erstwhile opponent with whom an odd sort of friendship had established itself. Glancing at the large drink between them he considered if he could get away with simply pretending not to know the big lug. "I'm sorry to hear that." He offered the usual platitudes sincerely and with an honest touch of concern. "Are you all right?" He wouldn't completely put it past Sanada to be too heavy handed (in the truest sense of the word) for a lady's taste.

"I'm fine. It was just a bit shocking really. I thought it was a joke and he had been drinking too but... he had a ring box prepared and everything." Momoi sighed heavily, shaking her head trying not to remember it so vividly but it was hard when she hadn't been drinking that night. Even in her attempt to dance the night away at the party she just kept thinking back to it. That whole week too it was hard not to every now and then.

So much for fixing things herself that night though. She was not prepared to approach him again there about it, especially in front of so many people.

"It troubles you." Atobe remarked, twisting his straw thoughtfully between his fingers. "I understand that this must have seemed very sudden for you but even if his intentions were serious surely he accepted your refusal?" He questioned as tactfully as possible, feeling like there was something he was not privy to. "If modern media is to be believed every girl dreams of such a thing." He added, only marginally serious.

"Would you be thrilled to be proposed to after a first kiss and only knowing someone for barely two weeks? None of which was really dating either." Momoi told him rather bluntly as she bit down on her straw a moment before taking another long sip and sitting back. "It's one thing to dream of as a girl or see in fiction but this is real life, Atobe-kun." And even if he was magically the man of her dreams saying yes so suddenly was quite difficult. "And I could hardly call a club on a Halloween night very dream like or romantic."

Oh Sanada. Atobe bit back another sigh in what seemed to become a habit. "No, I imagine not." He agreed with a rueful twist of his lips. Trust Sanada to get even that screwed up. "Have you resolved things between you?" Though from the look of things his money was very firmly on NO

She glanced over to Sanada in the corner again and saw him getting chummy with someone and then decided it best to just ignore him the rest of the night. Looking back to Atobe she smiled and shook her head. "I hardly want to again now that he's downed so many shots. Though I had hoped to try and talk with him again here. We don't live in the same dorm or go to the same school as you know so... it's been hard." With the tournament coming up too she didn't want to cause him anxiety or more for herself either. So instead she had focused on her team and studies instead.

A glance of his own had Atobe muting a sigh and nodding his understanding. "Yes, I understand completely." He assured her. "Though I would recommend not letting this go on for too long. Strain like this is an unnecessary drain on your ressources." And that it was bothering her was as plain as day to him.

Casting his gaze around he spotted the karaoke set up and smiled in satisfaction. "But for now, would you do me the honour of accompanying me for a duet?"

"I suppose you're right..." Of course he was Atobe always had sound advice for her and he was a wonderful senpai. Momoi just wasn't used to relying on senpai much in the past. It was her who was relied on and she was used to taking care of herself for the most part. He was right though she needed to talk with Sanada again just... not that night.

She smiled up at him at the suggestion, a happy distraction before she got wrapped up in the fact she couldn't solve everything in one night. They were all there to mingle and have fun and it would certainly be a waste not to enjoy what the place had to offer. "I think I'm the one who should feel honored, Atobe-kun." she giggled and finally pulled away from the bowl as she moved to grab the console to choose a song. "What shall we sing~?"

"Hm." Giving the screen a thoughtful look Atobe then shrugged. "I leave the choice to you." He spotted an option at the bottom. "Or we let Lady Luck choose for us tonight." Tapping the randomizer he waited expectantly what song would come up.

"Well... I think we might as well rely more on Lady Luck for the night. She's already given me the chance to sit and drink with you. Deciding our duet seems fitting too." Momoi smiled and reached to join him in waiting for the randomizer to see what might appear. Momoi couldn't help but laugh when the title showed up along with the date. The title 'Cutie Honey' appeared from the 2004 film of the same name and franchise.

"I suppose it is a duet albeit a bit strange." The main character at least had shared in her pink hair color. "What do you think, Atobe-kun?"
